Housing Services for Eaton County (HSEC) is a non-profit, grant funded agency which provides homelessness assistance, rental subsidies for people with disabilities, first time homebuyer's down-payment assistance, housing search assistance, extended services case management for the homeless, rental rehabilitation, supportive housing to the chronically homeless, and homelessness prevention services through the following programs:
Individuals who are homeless or experiencing eviction or foreclosure can receive case management with referrals to other helping agencies and possible direct financial assistance.
A comprehensive directory of agencies that assist families with a variety of difficulties.
A compilation of apartments and homes for rent and employment opportunities from a variety of sources.
Current subsidized housing in Eaton and Ingham County
Eaton County's most comprehensive listing of apartment complexes.
A direct monthly subsidy program for people with disabilities which includes case management to ensure success.
Workshops for landlords and tenants on a variety of topics, including: Section 8 Guidelines, Fair Housing Laws, and Dispute Resolution.
Assistance locating and applying for various entitlements, such as state aid, that will help overcome the barriers to housing.
An asset building program with 3 to 1 matching dollars and case management to enable families with children at 200% of poverty and below to become homeowners.
A specialized program to assist the chronically homeless with a mental Illness, including full rental subsidy and weekly home visitation.
Successfully re-housed homeless cases receive an additional 6 months of follow up services to promote housing stability with financial support available.
